Choosing a travel insurance company can seem like a daunting task, especially with so many insurance companies out there.

Unfortunately, not all insurances are created equal! Some travel insurances will cover more and some will cover less, so you need to make sure that your plan will cover you for everything you intend on doing. World Nomads is, in our experience, the best insurance for independent travelers and here is why:

7 Things You Should Know About Travel Insurance from World Nomads

1. Trusted reliable underwriters

World Nomads is backed by a suite of strong, secure, specialist travel insurers who provide you with great cover, 24 hour emergency assistance and the highest levels of support and claims management when you need it most.

2. Value for money with the cover you need

World Nomads provides cover for what’s important for travelers from over 150 countries. By focusing on what you need and leaving out what you don’t, World Nomads prices are some of the most competitive online.

3. Flexibility when you need it most

Had a change of plans? You can extend your policy or claim online while you are still away. You can even buy a World Nomads policy if you’re already traveling.

4. Cover for a range of adventure activities

From skiing & snowboarding in New Zealand to whitewater rafting in Colorado, World Nomads covers a range of adventure activities, giving you peace of mind to get the most from your travels.

5. World Nomads keeps you traveling safely

All World Nomads members have access to up-to-date travel safety alerts, as well as travel safety advice and tips online through the World Nomads Travel Safety Hub.

6. More than just great value travel insurance

All World Nomads members can learn the local lingo through a series of iPod & iPhone Language Guides and can stay in touch with family and friends with an online travel journal.

7. Commitment to exceptional customer service

World Nomads is well known for its commitment to great customer service and they always make sure you get the most from their insurance. Their 24 hour customer service agents are friendly, patient and efficient.

There you have it, I hope this post has convinced you that World Nomad is the best travel insurance available and if you are still debating whether to get travel insurance or not, then check out why travel insurance is important.

I find that the major downside to WorldNomad insurance is that you need to provide a booked return ticket to your home country to file a claim. With my style of long term travel this is usually not possible. How do you deal with this issue?
